One on One with Lord Craven-Moore

Hi guys!
I'm probably going to disappoint you this morning by telling you that Lord Craven-Moore won't be posting his interview with his mystery guest today. Unfortunately, we had a snowstorm to rival that blazing blizzard in Rudolf on Tuesday night and we lost power and heat for more than 24hrs. So, no interent for correspondence.

We're expecting yet another snow storm to come tonight. They're forcasting at least as bad as Tuesday but maybe worse because of snow squalls.....blech.

BUT, I'm sending Craven-Moore over to Karin's to see if he can seduce an excerpt out of her from Master of Craving (book 3 of the Blood Swords) and he'll be working on his interview....I'm very good at cracking the whip, although he does much better when I'm wearing black patent leather! lol!

Check back tomorrow (Friday the 19th,) for Craven-Moore's interview, and also, we'll extend the contest by one more day, because CM and his guest are announcing the winners. Sorry for the extension, but not even Lord Craven-Moore has found a way best Mother Nature!

In the meantime, keep the titles, coming, and check back later today to see just how persuasive our rakish Lord can be!!!!
And here's a little recipe if you're in the mood for something sweet and easy. No-bake Coconut Drops!!!

Coconut Drops

1/4 cup of butter melted and stirred.
2 cups icing sugar
3 cups coconut
1/4c light cream

Mix all ingrediants together and drop onto cookie sheet.
Melt 1 cup chocolate chips with 2 tsp of shortening. Make a thumbprint in the top of each cookie and pour melted chocolate over the cookie drops. Refridgerate for 1-2 hrs. Keep cool in containers.

These babies taste a bit like Bounty chocolate bars, so if you feel like it, put an almond beneath the chocolate for a real treat.

I'll be eating these when I read Lord Craven-Moore's interview tomorrow..mmm

Looking forward to the interview tomorrow--IF I have internet access to read it, that is. Charlotte's blizzard is headed my way late tonight/tomorrow--and then it sounds like we have another storm on its heels for the weekend. And technically it isn't even winter yet. :o(

I HATE winter, in case I haven't mentioned it lately. Absolutely hate it.

Taking advantage of the weather-related delay.
Here is a special holiday recipe we make each year! Serve alone or with crackers or rye bread:

Dried Beef Log
1/2 lb. dried beef (sliced about 1/4-1/8 of inch)
1 ib. Velveeta (not lite)
3 oz.cream cheese(not lite)
6 slices bacon(browned & crumbled)

Line jelly roll pan w/ waxed paper. Lay out dried beef, layering slightly. Melt cheeses (you can do this in microwave) and pour hot over beef.
Sprinkle on bacon & roll the width of the pan. Wrap and store in foil.

Makes a nice holiday gift too, cut in half and put in a holiday bag with some fun crackers & bottle of Moscato wine!

Alright, I will beg ignorance here (dumb Canadian! lol!) what in the world is 'dried beef'????

Amanda McIntyre said...

A) There are no dumb Canadians that I have ever met ;)

Okay,so I called my local meat dept guy and asked him to explain to me the main difference of Dried beef, say opposed to Roast beef.

It is in the method of curing.

Most meat is 'wet cured' which means it is injected with water along with the curing process. Thereby staying moist.

Dried Beef is "dry cured" meaning that there is little to no water used in the curing process and it is usually smoked as well. Because no water is used it is also a bit more salty.

Dried beef, if "dried" or baked for a long period of time, would eventually end up as 'Beef Jerky', if that helps.

It is the same of any meat that you might use in making jerky-deer or elk, for example.

You can buy 'Dried Beef" off the shelf, but usually its cheaper, and better to go to a local meat mkt. or grocery meat dept.

its not inexpensive, which is why we make these only at holiday time ;)

There you go, "Curing 101" LOL

Hmmm, I think it might be one of those American things, because I have never even seen something like that in stores or at the butcher.
But...I'll have to go check it out.
You think customs would let dry beef go through???? You could send me some! lol!

It may be that you've never had need to look before LOL

You've had beef jerky, or maybe deer jerky? Any hunters in the family? LOL

I asked the meat dept guy if it was kind of like when the Native Americans would lay the meat out on racks to "cure" so they would have it for winter and he told me I was on the right track ;)

Of course, modern technology has its own modern form of a "drying rack" *grin*

I have to share with you all that I am watching this ice storm rolling in from the southwest and it is literally blanketing the horizon like some Stephen King movie. The trees and houses are disappearing into the foggy mist.

Wondering if they are going to call school soon--

I'm just hoping they call off my kids' school tomorrow--I could *so* use sleeping in! They usually wait till the last minute and we get the automated call at 5 a.m.

Now I'll have to check my meat or deli dept. and see if they have dried beef-I'm curious, and the recipe sounds yummy (though scarily fattening--but it's the holidays!). Charlotte, why don't you go ask at your local deli...wink,wink.

Charlotte Featherstone said...

Oh, I couldn't....I've already been there alot and HE's waited on me EVERY time.

And for those of you wondering, we've got a Richard Armitage look alike working in the deli at one our groceries store. I kid you not. The first time I saw him I was staring and so shocked that I drove my cart into the rack of garlic bread....
and then my daughter had the nerve to burst out 'hey mum, there's that guy from the movie you think is so cute'......
that's when I wondered if murdering one's own child was truly a sin or not!!!
So, I seem to get Mr. Deli alot, and that's fine by me. It's the only time I flirt, it's fun to have crushes. Makes grocery shopping so much more fun!

So it seems that Charlotte has a

Master of Meat....oh, Genella you bad girl. Craven-Moore was wondering if he might use the same title! lol!

And glad you liked Saint! That was the FIRST erotic anything that I had ever written. And I liked him soooo much. He's a verrrry bad boy!

Actually, I was thinking of my most favorite heroes (got invited to do an interview for Addicted and that was one of the questions) and Saint was up there.

Top three of my fav heroes that I've created are

Lindsay (Addicted) and Lord Wallingford (Sinful-2010) I tell you, that guy is gonna break my heart by the time I'm done writing him. He's so complex and stand offish, but dying for some scrap of happiness.

Those two are tied, and then Saint!!!

OMG, I needed a warning before I read that! I just about spewed tea on the screen!

Sorry, Charlotte--didn't mean to out you about your deli guy, LOL! (well, okay, maybe I did!).

I'll tell you this much--if I ever visit Charlotte, I'll suddenly have a craving for deli meat and cole slaw!
