Wicked Wednesday.....Shaken, Not Stirred

In honor of Wicked Wednesday, I give you Bond, James Bond. I was just invited to an advance screening of the new Bond flick (Quantum of Solace) next week, and that got me checking out the photos/trailers, and let me say....I can't wait!

I found two pictures that I really like, that really capture that 'wicked' essence of James Bond that has captivated women for so many decades, regardless of the actor portraying the character (though I will say, in my opinion, Daniel Craig is by far the best Bond since Sean Connery!).

First, there's Bond the adventurer (above photo),

and then Bond the ultimate well-heeled gentleman (photo below).

I think these two pictures together illustrate James Bond's allure--it's the combination of the two that make the character so fascinating, so sexy. On the one hand, he's this perfectly mannered, impeccably dressed man who oozes confidence and sex appeal, who drives the hottest Aston Martin on the planet, and knows everything about fine dining and expensive champagne. The ultimate 'wealthy man who will take care of you' fantasy.

Now add to that image Bond the adventurer--he's dirty, sweaty, and yeah, he can take out a target without batting an eye, get himself out of the scariest situations, outwit the enemy, and basically kick ass with style. You *know* this guy can keep you safe. He's the ultimate 'bad boy' fantasy.

So, my question to you is, which Bond do you prefer? Dirty, scratched-up adventurer Bond, or the cleaned-up, man-with-style-and-perfect-manners Bond?

Me, I'll take adventurer Bond any day, dirty, dusty, and all--especially if he looks like Daniel Craig! (*and I apologize in advance for the utter lack of historical content in this post*)

Hmmmm, good question. I like a man in a nice suit, that's for sure. Maybe it's because I see my husband dressed up for weddings and funerals. Usually when I see him dressed up (so very rarely) he looks so good, I want to tear his clothes off! lol!
But in general, I'll take Bond the adventurer. I like them a bit a rough and tumble and dirty. Works for me.
I'm not a fan of Daniel Craig-blond. That's all I can say. But, I do really love those pics!!!

I'm a firm believer in Pierce Brosnan as Bond (aside from Sean Connery, obviously), and I haven't really been able to get into Daniel Craig-Bond.

In general, I love adventurer Bond (torn T-shirt showing off sculpted muscle? Yes, Please!), but I love suave Bond, too. Don't make me choose!

Okay, lana, I'll make an exception this time and let you have both, LOL! I actually liked Brosnan as Bond, too (far better than Roger Moore). I never expected to like Craig, as he's not particularly my 'type'--but somehow he really changed my mind with that first movie!

First and foremost, I love the Bond films. (And I'm not just saying this because I work for the company.)

I like the cleaned up Bond - but I do like it when he gets dirtier as the movie progresses. :)

Historically speaking, my favorite Bond who had it all (handsome, sexy, @$$-kicking) was Pierce Brosnan.

And I'm sorry to say this, but every time I look at Danny, the only thing I see is the evil priest from Elizabeth. Sorry, can't help it. He's a fine actor, but he oozes "bad-guy" to me. Very few actors can pull off both bad-guy AND good-guy roles.

Alan Rickman, Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, Rufus Sewell, Geoffrey Rush, I would imagine Heath Ledger could - but I haven't had the heart to watch the latest Batman movie yet, Jason Isaacs, Timothy Olyphant, Gene Hackman, Gary Oldman, Oliver Reed, Joaquin Phoenix, Viggo Mortensen . . . And that's all I could think of off the top of my head . . . Are all brilliant with both Hero & Villain roles.

Yes, I'm a movie spaz.

G. Heath pulls it off brilliantly and it was bittersweet to see his genius in Batman, no doubt about it. Big Ledger fan from way back ;)

as far as Bond-Im sorry Im old school, I cant get past the magnificent burr of Sean Connery-I could listen to the man read me assembly instructions of a bicycle and be mesmerized.;)

and dang, if that man just doesnt get better looking with age!

so there's my Bond vote. and well...NOBODY DOES IT BETTER ;))

Ahhhh, Gary Oldman.....I have a weird thing for him. He totally walks the line between bad guy/good guy. Mostly, he's always just 'intense guy.' And I feel the same about Viggo Mortensen. I could rhapsodize about Viggo all day. My husband swears to this day that I only became a Joni Mitchell fan after seeing a naked Viggo getting it on with Diane Lane in A Walk on the Moon with Mitchell's Cactus Tree playing in the background--that it's now a Pavlov-like instinct. Joni Mitchell = Naked Viggo. He might have a point.

And speaking of A Walk on the Moon...Liev Schrieber. He's another that, IMO, can do good guy/bad guy pretty effectively.

And Edward Norton....

Hey, why did you get me started down this path?!

Oh yes! Liev!
And Dustin Hoffman, too.

OMG!! Gary Oldman.
Seriously have a thing for him. I totally fell for him as Vlad Dracula. when's walking down the crowded street with those ultra cool sunglasses!!
he's not a hunky, or even really classically handsome, but he has something.
And Ralph Fienes in The English Patient. I LOVE his intensity as the count.
