Wintery Thursday Thoughts

So I've been rising earlier the past couple of days for what reasons I can only attribute to camping out by the bonfire I have going for the UPS man who may be bringing my ARC's  of Winters Desire;)
Seriously, they were shipped to the wrong address and are now making their way to me;)
I look for them anytime now...not that I'm anxious or anything ;)

Kidding, sort of...so what are you all reading these days? I try to make rounds on the blog circuits as best as I can, to read the reviews and recommendations.

I just finished A Rogues Game by Renee Bernard and if you are looking for a sassy heroine and a to die for rake--look no further! Bernard is a brilliant writer and superb storyteller!

Currently, I'm reading The Club by Sharon Page--another page-turner , Sharon goes deep into the erotic seedy underbelly of London's Victorian(defintely my cuppa!) era to uncover the whereabouts of a young woman gone missing. Really good stuff thus far, but some stuff admittedly disturbing (even for me!) I so identify with her heroine in this book in my view. Excellent writing!

We're looking at a cold blast tonight and tomorrow with freeze warnings and a mixed bag of snow and rain this weekend!

So what's shakin' in your neck of the woods?

Amanda

Not that I'm bragging, but I finished Winter's Desire last night....I know...don't hate me! :)

It was neat to see how the three novellas came together. for readers, although we wrote this basically at the same time, we only read snippets of each other works, so it was really neat to read the book from cover to cover!

I've also been using the autumnal weather as a launch for a proposal. I wanted to write a late Victorian, dark, gothic kind of piece, and I achieved it (or the partial at least)I set it in the aututmn, because hello, there's not better time to have seance's is there! :)

Hope I'll have news to share soon.

In other news, I've just started JR Ward's Covet. Only five pages in....

Okay... secretly throwing balled up paper at Charlotte for "not" bragging that she finished the book! LOL!!!!
BTW - I can not wait to get my hands on it either!!!!
Your UPS man knows you want those books, they will come... I promise you!
I am reading Amazon Connection by Carol Henry. So far, so good!
I hope everyone has a great Friday!!! And a wonderful weekend... bundle up Amanda!

Well, I just received advance copies of my Dec. '09 Harlequin NASCAR release, FORCE OF NATURE, so I read that yesterday--the first time as a 'real book,' LOL!

Other than that, I've been reading *tons* of YA paranormals recently. I loved, loved, LOVED Lisa McMann's WAKE and FADE! I'm already chomping at the bit for the third and final book in the series, GONE, which doesn't come out till Feb. '10. I also loved Maggie Stiefvater's SHIVER (which they just sold movie rights to!).

Other recent YA reads that I enjoyed: Jessica Verday's THE HOLLOW, and Gillian Shield's IMMORTAL.

There is SO much good YA out there right now.

There is lots of really cool YA out there. I'm really looking forward to digging into Swoon.

Amanda, Sharon Page is so good, isn't she? The Club has such a gothic, sexy feel to it.

Kristina, congrats on your advance copies!

I concur Vanessa, it's a captivating book!

Kristi, cool beans about your books!

Hoping to get mine today--on the upside, I've met and made another friend within the Harlequin family ;)

Hi Lit Ladies,
Been looking forward to Winters Desire and am glad that release date is coming soon.

I've been wanting to read The Club so am glad that both Amanda and Cathie C enjoyed it. Cathie and I have very similar tastes so will definitely go on the TBB list.

Congrats! and hope your UPS man finds his way to your door soon :)

I know I'm late to the party, but as I read your post I sit in a gorgeously sunny Dundalk in Ireland. Cold and snow seem like an alien thought right now, but it's coming for us soon enough.

I've been reading Irish mythology and folk tales recently, so nothing too exciting, I'm afraid.

Wow, Anida! The fact you are in Ireland alone is exciting!! Talk about my dream place to visit!

When does winter arrive in Ireland--what months? Are winter's severe?

Do you or how do you celebrate Winter's Solstice?

Just to add to the bragability (or not) factor from our dear Charlotte, it's cloudy here in Culver City. ;)

Amanda - For shame! You are adding to my already monstrous TBR pile! Your book recommendations look yummy, yummy, YUMMY!!

Well, I just finished a retreat with my chapter girls and just sent off a submission to EC. I'm excited but nervous about the latter.

I've also been judging contests for our chapter. I enjoy it, but it does get tiresome sometimes.

Hope you don't get to much winter weather. All we have lately is rain!
